Sri Lanka has a vibrant nightlife in addition to its spectacular tourist attractions and activities. From charming coffee shops, cocktail lounges and restaurants to bars, pubs, nightclubs and casinos – there is something for everyone here.
A great way to spend the evening is at chic coffee shops or high end restaurants, which serve excellent meals amidst gorgeous settings. There are also many places that serve exotic flavors of Shisha (Hookah) and tea – a perfect way to pass time with friends.
Sports bars with pool tables or large screens are a popular hangout area in the evenings – here one can enjoy a variety of alcoholic beverages and food items whilst catching live football or cricket matches on TV in the company of foreigners and locals. There are several pubs as well that host a wide range of entertainment options such as quizzes, open mic (Microphone) nights and live jazz and rock bands. Karaoke bars are also popular here and a great way to unwind and meet new people.
In terms of clubbing, Sri Lanka has quite a few nightclubs – most of which are situated in or close to prominent hotels in Colombo city. The clubs feature DJs that play music from various genres and have special themed events such as Ladies Nights. There are also events and concerts featuring international artists as well as beach parties and festivals held throughout the year. Casinos are another form of nightlife entertainment option – visitors can try their hand at roulette, poker, blackjack in addition to complimentary food and alcohol.
